MLB: Colorado 7, St. Louis 0

DENVER, July 24 (UPI) -- Colorado mugged St. Louis for a 7-0 win Monday in the first of a three-game series at Coors Field.

The Rockies' Jeff Francis pitched a two-hit shutout, keeping Cardinal hitters guessing with a wicked change-up and his fast ball. The left-hander struck out eight without a walk in his first career complete game.

Francis had a perfect game into the sixth inning, but leadoff batter Yadier Molina bopped a single to center field, become the first St. Louis base runner of the game.

Garrett Atkins and Cory Sullivan each knocked in a pair of runs for the Rockies, who have won their last two following defeats in 11 of 12 games.

Albert Pujols doubled in the seventh to become the only other base runner for the Cardinals, who had a four-game win streak snapped. Anthony Reyes gave six runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings for the loss.
