KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 23 (UPI) -- Jered Weaver Sunday became the first rookie in the major leagues in 25 years to win his first seven decisions as the Los Angeles Angels beat Kansas City, 3-1.
Adam Kennedy hit a two-run single, Robb Quinlan hit an RBI single, and Juan Rivera had two runs and one hit for the Angels (50-48), who have won two in a row following a three-game losing streak.

In 6 2/3 innings, Weaver (7-0) yielded only one run and three hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Francisco Rodriguez recorded his 25th save.
Mark Teahen hit an RBI double, and Doug Mientkiewicz had a run and two of the four hits for the Royals (34-64), who have split their last four games.
The losing pitcher was Brandon Duckworth (1-4).
