MLB: St. Louis 2, L.A. Dodgers 0

LOS ANGELES, July 22 (UPI) -- Jeff Suppan hurled seven scoreless innings Friday night to help St. Louis beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2-0.

Chris Duncan hit a solo home run; Juan Encarnacion hit an RBI single; while Albert Pujols and Aaron Miles each had two hits for the Cardinals (54-41), who have won six of their last eight games.

Suppan (7-5) gave up five hits, walked three and struck out two. Jason Isringhausen recorded his 27th save.

Rafael Furcal and Russell Martin both had two hits for the Dodgers (47-50), who have lost three straight and eight of their last nine games.

Loser Brad Penny (10-4) allowed two runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Dodgers first base coach Mariano Duncan was suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount for inappropriate actions during the July 17th game against Arizona and outfielder J.D. Drew was hit on the right knee by a Suppan pitch in the first inning.
