Ferrer, Acasuso to meet in Mercedes finals

STUTTGART, Germany, July 22 (UPI) -- Third-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer and fifth-seeded Argentine Jose Acasuso reached the finals at the Mercedes Cup in Germany with semifinal wins on Saturday.

Ferrer defeated world No.15 Tomas Berdych, 6-3, 7-5. Acasuso beat fellow Argentine Juan Monaco, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Ferrer and Acasuso have met five times in their careers, with the Argentine having a 4-1 advantage. After losing to Ferrer in 2002 at Bucharest, Acasuso has beaten the Spaniard four straight times.
