MLB: Philadelphia 6, Atlanta 5

PHILADELPHIA, July 21 (UPI) -- Chase Utley drove in the eventual winning run Friday night and extended his hitting streak to a career-high 22 games as Philadelphia beat Atlanta, 6-5.

David Bell had two runs and four hits; Chris Coste hit a two-run homer; Jimmy Rollins added a solo shot; and Utley's seventh inning single produced two runs for the Phillies (44-50), who have split their last six games.

Winner Corey Lidle (7-7) yielded three runs and six hits in eight innings with one walk and five strikeouts. Despite giving up a two-run homer by Jeff Francoeur in the ninth inning, Tom Gordon recorded his 23rd save.

The win moved the Phillies into a second-place tie with the Braves in the National League East.

Scott Thorman also hit a two-run homer, and Edgar Renteria hit a solo homer for Atlanta (45-51), which has dropped its last two games.

The loser was Ken Ray (1-1).
