MLB: Boston 6, Texas 4

BOSTON, July 20 (UPI) -- Wily Mo Pena and Jason Varitek each had two RBI Thursday afternoon as Boston beat the Texas Rangers, 6-4.

Mark Loretta had three hits, including an RBI single; Manny Ramirez had two runs, two hits and one RBI; and Alex Cora had two hits for the Red Sox (58-36), who have won four straight and five of their last six games.

In seven innings, winning pitcher Curt Schilling (12-3) gave up four runs and 10 hits with one walk and six strikeouts. Mike Timlin recorded his second save.

Rod Barajas had two hits and three RBI; Brad Wilkerson hit an RBI double; and Kevin Mench, Ian Kinsler, Hank Blalock and Michael Young all had two hits for the Rangers (49-47), who lost for the fourth time in their last six games.

The loser was reliever Bryan Corey (1-1).
