MLB: LA Angels 7, Cleveland 5

ANAHEIM, Calif., July 19 (UPI) -- Juan Rivera's two solo homers Tuesday night helped lift the LA Angels of Anaheim to a 7-5 victory over the Cleveland Indians at Angel Stadium.

Anaheim is now one-half game behind Oakland for the AL West lead. The Indians have dropped five straight games and lost seven of their last eight.

Howie Kendrick drove in two runs for the Angels, who have won a season-high eight straight, and have notched victories in 13 of their last 14 games.

Anaheim's Joe Saunders (1-0) picked up his first win in the majors after pitching seven innings and giving up two runs on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts, and Francisco Rodriguez picked up his 23rd save of the season.

For the Indians, Grady Sizemore and Aaron Boone each had two hits, a run scored and an RBI.

Cliff Lee (9-7) was charged with the loss.
