Ogilvie leads John Deere after 36 holes

SILVIS, Ill., July 14 (UPI) -- John Ogilvie climbed from fifth to first place Friday with a 4-under 67 to take the lead after 36 holes of the PGA John Deere Classic at Silvis, Ill.

The 32-year-old four-time Nationwide Tour winner had just one bogey and finished his second-round with six straight pars on the TPC at Deere Run. He led for two rounds at the Western Open last week in Lemont, Ill., but has never won a PGA event.

"Hopefully this weekend will be a little better than last weekend," Ogilvie joked.

Friday's big story was the withdrawal of 16-year-old Michelle Wie, who was trying to become the first woman to make the cut at a PGA event since 1945.

Wie left the course after a double-bogey at the ninth hole, complaining of stomach pains and breathing problems. She was taken to a hospital by ambulance with an IV in her arm.

Her agent said she was treated for nausea, dizziness and shortness of breath.

John Houston also carded a 67 and was in a second place tie with Daniel Chopra, Kris Cox and John Senden at 9-under 133 after two rounds.
