Patrick considers NASCAR future

LOS ANGELES, July 12 (UPI) -- Indy car driver Danica Patrick has said she would consider moving to NASCAR later in her career, after attempting to win the Indianapolis 500.

Patrick, who came close to victory in 2005 as the first woman to lead the 500, said she's currently focused on her Indy driving career, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.

"I do have some interest for (NASCAR), for sure," she said. "I would definitely have to consider it."

"I wouldn't say it's that big of a chance for next year, but I'd say it's a fairly larger chance in the future."

Speculation about Patrick's NASCAR ambitions was sparked when her father and agent, T.J. Patrick, told the Chicago Tribune he had talked about his daughter with some NASCAR Nextel Cup teams.

The driver is in the final year of her contract with Rahal Letterman Racing.
