Free agent Jeffries weighing his options

WASHINGTON, July 12 (UPI) -- NBA restricted free agent Jared Jeffries has received interest from a number of teams, but is not close to making a decision, his agent says.

Andy Miller said Jeffries, who has played for the Washington Wizards for four years, is still weighing his options, the Washington Post reported Wednesday.

The Wizards have offered Jeffries a one-year qualifying offer of $2.8 million that would leave him as an unrestricted free agent in summer 2007.

Coach Eddie Jordan and President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld have both said they want Jeffries to stay with the Wizards. The team would have seven days to match an offer made by another team.

Jeffries played both guard and forward positions last season, averaging 6.4 points and 4.9 rebounds in 77 games and often guarding the best player on the opposing team.

Meanwhile, a source within the NBA denied rumors the Wizards were seeking to trade Jeffries or guard Antonio Daniels for center Jamaal Magloire of the Milwaukee Bucks, the Post said.
