Davydenko, Nieminen win at Swedish Open

BASTAD, Sweden, July 12 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Nikolay Davydenko of Russia beat countryman Yuri Schukin, 6-0, 3-6, 6-1, Wednesday in a second-round match at the $380,000 Swedish Open at Bastad.

Davydenko will play unseeded Nicolas Massu in the third round after Massu's straight-set victory over Jose Acasuso of Argentina, 6-4, 6-2.

Fourth-seeded Finn Jarkko Nieminen rebounded from a tough first-set loss to Czech Lukas Dlouhy for a 6-7 (2-7), 6-0, 6-3, victory, and will meet eighth-seeded Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain in the third round. Ferrero downed Oliver Marach, 6-2, 6-3, to advance to the third round.
