Phillies' Howard wins Home Run Derby

Howard hit five home runs in the final round to beat New York Mets third baseman David Wright, who hit four.

Howard's victory follows the record-setting 41 total homer performance by teammate Bobby Abreu last year. Phillies' bullpen coach Ramon Henderson, who pitched to Abreu last season in Detroit, threw to Howard Monday night.

The three-round event was a prelude to Tuesday night's 77th All-Star Game.

Howard, the reigning National League Rookie of the Year and a first-time All- Star participant, has 28 homers at the break, one off the top spot in the NL held by St. Louis' Albert Pujols.
