MLB: Arizona 8, Colorado 7

DENVER, July 8 (UPI) -- Chad Tracy's grand slam sparked a seven-run ninth inning for Arizona, but the Diamondbacks had to hang on for a wild 8-7 win over Colorado Saturday night.

Between them, the Diamondbacks and Rockies sent 23 men to the plate in the ninth. Colorado answered the Diamondbacks' big inning with six runs of their own in their half.

Craig Counsell also homered, and Conor Jackson had three hits and scored one run for the Diamondbacks, who won their second straight.

Arizona starter Brandon Webb allowed just one run on four hits with six strikeouts and one walk in seven innings, but did not figure in the win. Reliever Luis Vizcaino (3-3) got the win, pitching a perfect eighth, and Jorge Julio got his ninth save after closing the door on Colorado after the Rockies' scoring splurge in the ninth.

Colorado starter Jason Jennings allowed one run on six hits with eight strikeouts and one walk over eight innings, but did not figure in the decision. Brian Fuentes (2-2) took the loss in relief.

Yorvit Torrealba had two hits, four RBI and one run scored for the Rockies.
