MLB: St. Louis 7, Houston 6 (10 inn.)

HOUSTON, July 8 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols hit a solo homer in the top of the 10th inning Saturday afternoon, giving St. Louis a 7-6 win over Houston.

The Cardinals were on the verge of defeat before a two-run rally in the top of the ninth sending the contest into extra innings.

Scott Spiezio also hit a solo homer, Jim Edmonds drove in two runs, and Aaron Miles hit an RBI single for the Cardinals (47-39), who have split their last six games.

The winner was closer Jason Isringhausen (3-4).

Craig Biggio hit a three-run homer and scored three times, Lance Berkman hit a two-run single, Chris Burke had a run and two hits, and Mike Lamb had three hits for the Astros (43-45), who have three losses in their last four games.

Roy Oswalt (6-6), normally a starter, was tagged with the loss in relief.
