KILDARE, Ireland, July 8 (UPI) -- Spain's Jose Manuel Lara Saturday forged into the lead after 54 holes of the European Golf Tournament in Kildare, Ireland.
In the third round, Lara shot 5-under-par 67 after scores of 72 on Thursday and 68 on Friday.
He is 9-under 207 and has a one-shot lead over England's Anthony Wall (70).
Lara was in the same situation in 2004.
"It's pretty much the same situation as 2004 except that I am two years older," he said. "I feel comfortable here, you know, even in this weather. I like the course, I like the greens and I am now going to play my own game and see how things go."
Defending champion Kenneth Ferrie (70) of England is tied for 31st place at 1-under 215.
