SEATTLE, July 4 (UPI) -- Jered Weaver threw seven innings and Chone Figgins had two hits and three runs batted in, as the Angels downed the Seattle Mariners, 7-1,
The victory came in the first of a three-game series at Safeco Field.
Weaver (5-0), making his first appearance with the parent club since June 13, gave up a run on five hits and a walk, but had a career-high nine strikeouts.
Kendry Morales went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and scored three times, and Adam Kennedy had two hits, including a two-run single for the Angels, who have won three straight games.
Ichiro Suzuki drove in a run and Kenji Johjima singled and scored a run for the Mariners, who have dropped three out of four games. Felix Hernandez (8-8) was saddled with the loss.
