KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 1 (UPI) -- Landon Donovan scored two goals Saturday night to lead the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 2-0 MLS victory over the Kansas City Wizards.
Donovan missed seven matches as he was serving a tour of duty in Germany for the World Cup with Bruce Arena and the U.S. National team.
It was only the Galaxy's third win of 2006, and their first since April 29.
The Wizards lost their third straight match on the heels of a two-game win streak. Kansas fell under .500 with the defeat at 6-7-2.
Donovan opened up the scoring in the 36th minute, before sealing the victory with his second goal in injury time.
Kevin Hartman made four saves to post his second straight shutout for Los Angeles.
Midfielder Cobi Jones missed the match for the Galaxy with a foot sprain.
Frank Yallop earned his first win as head coach of the Galaxy.
