MLB: Boston 11, Florida 5

MIAMI, July 1 (UPI) -- The Boston Red Sox scored 10 runs in three big innings Saturday night and trounced the Florida Marlins, 11-5.

Boston scored three runs in the first and fourth innings and four in the sixth.

Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz both hit two home runs and combined for five hits and nine RBI; Trot Nixon had two runs and two hits; while Mike Lowell had an RBI double among his three hits and one RBI for the Red Sox (49-29), who had their 12-game winning streak snapped on Friday night.

Winner Tim Wakefield (6-8) gave up three runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings with one walk and four strikeouts.

Miguel Olivo hit a two-run homer, and Mike Jacobs had a run and three hits for the Marlins (35-42), who have lost for the second time in their last six games.

The loser was Brian Moehler (5-7).
