MLB: Boston 10, N.Y. Mets 2

BOSTON, June 28 (UPI) -- Trot Nixon and Alex Gonzalez each drove in two runs Wednesday night as Boson clobbered the New York Mets, 10-2, to extend its winning streak to 11 games.

Jason Varitek hit an RBI single, David Ortiz hit a sacrifice fly, and Coco Crisp scored twice and had one hit for the Red Sox (47-28), who have their longest winning streak since August 1995.

Winning pitcher Josh Beckett (10-3) gave up only two runs and five hits in 7 2/3 innings with two walks and one strikeout.

Carlos Delgado and Jose Valentin hit solo homers, and Endy Chavez had two hits for the Mets (47-30), who have lost three times in their last five games.

In his worst outing of the season, losing pitcher Pedro Martinez (7-4), a former Red Sox, gave up seven hits and eight runs in three innings with two walks and one strikeout.
