MLB: Detroit 10, St. Louis 6

DETROIT, June 23 (UPI) -- Curtis Granderson and Brandon Inge hit home runs Friday night as the Detroit Tigers beat St. Louis, 10-6.

Granderson had two runs, two hits and two RBI; Inge had one run, two hits and three RBI; Magglio Ordonez had one run, two hits and two RBI; and Marcus Thames had two runs, two hits and one RBI for the Tigers, who improved their major league-best record to 49-25 with the sixth win in their last seven games.

Winning pitcher Justin Verlander (9-4) allowed four runs and seven hits in six innings with three walks and five strikeouts.

Albert Pujols -- who belted his 26th home run -- had two runs, four hits and one RBI; and Yadier Molina had three hits and three RBI for the Cardinals (42-30), who have lost four games in a row.

Loser Chris Carpenter (6-4) gave up seven runs and nine hits in seven innings.
