WORLD CUP: Spain 3, Tunisia 1

STUTTGART, Germany, June 19 (UPI) -- Raul and Fernando Torres scored within five minutes of the second half Monday, delivering Spain a 3-1 World Cup victory over Tunisia.

The victory allowed Spain to clinch a Group H berth in the Round of 16 but the rest of the group is too tight to tell which team will emerge with the other spot and advance.

Ukraine has the edge with three points, having won earlier Monday, while Tunisia and Saudi Arabia each have one point. The group completes round-robin play Friday.

Spain controlled everything but the scoreboard through 70 minutes. The Spaniards dominated time of possession and shots but were unable to crack the tight Tunisia defense surrounding goalkeeper Ali Boumnijel.

But in the 71st minute, a hard shot rebounded off a sprawling Boumnijel and Raul was able to send the ball over the prone goalkeeper to tie the score at 1-1.

Spain grabbed the lead on a play beginning at midfield where Cesc Fabregas used a long pass to Torres, who was nearing the penalty box. Torres was able to control the pass, and flip the ball back right and into the goal.

Torres added goal on a penalty kick in stoppage time to complete the scoring.

Tunisia took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute when Jaouher Mnari was able to follow his own shot and put the rebound past Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
