NHL: Edmonton 4, Carolina 0

EDMONTON, Alberta, June 17 (UPI) -- Jussi Markkanen got his first career playoff shutout Saturday as Edmonton forced a seventh game in the Stanley Cup Finals with a 4-0 win over Carolina.

Markkanen had 16 saves and the Oilers scored three times on the power play.

Fernando Pisani had a goal and an assist and Raffi Torres, Ryan Smyth and Shawn Horcoff each added a goal for the Oilers, who became the third team in the past 18 seasons that trailed three games to one and forced a Game Seven in the finals. Jaroslav Spacek had two assists for Edmonton.

This is the third consecutive season that the Stanley Cup Finals have gone to Game Seven. This one will be in Raleigh on Monday.

Cam Ward made 30 stops for the Hurricanes, who are still searching for their first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

Carolina lost center Doug Weight and defenseman Aaron Ward to injuries in the third period of Game Five, and Weight did not play Saturday.
