MLS: New York 2, Los Angeles 1

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., June 17 (UPI) -- The New York Red Bulls got their second win of the season Saturday night, beating the Los Angeles Galaxy, 2-1.

The Red Bulls got goals from Edson Buddle in the 27th minute and Jean Philippe Peguero a minute later.

Herculez Gomez scored the lone Galaxy goal in the 25th minute, but could not hold its early 1-0 lead.

After the contest, New York (2-2-7), which won for the first time in a month, is tied with New England in third place in Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference with 13 points. Los Angeles is 2-10-2 in last place in the West.

The Red Bulls head to Chicago next Sunday while the Galaxy are at home against Houston next Saturday.
