MLB: Seattle 5, San Francisco 4

SAN FRANCISCO, June 17 (UPI) -- Barry Bonds hit his 718th career homer, but struck out to end the game, as the Seattle Mariners beat the Giants, 5-4, Friday night.

Bonds' solo shot in the second inning moved him within 37 homers of Hank Aaron for the all-time MLB record.

Ichiro Suzuki homered and Adrian Beltre had two hits and scored a run for the Mariners, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Felix Hernandez (7-6) earned his fourth straight win, allowing four runs on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks over six innings. J.J. Putz struck out three batters -- including Bonds -- over the final 1 1/3 innings for his 11th save.

Steve Finley and Randy Winn also homered for the Giants, who have lost five of their last seven games.

Noah Lowry (2-5) took the loss, allowing five runs on eight hits with two walks -- as he lasted just three innings.
