MLB: Florida 2, San Diego 1

SAN DIEGO, June 11 (UPI) -- Mike Jacobs singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning Saturday night as the Florida Marlins shaded San Diego, 2-1.

The other run scored in the first, when Jacobs grounded into a double play.

The Marlins (22-37), who had only three hits in the contest, have won five times in the first eight games of a nine-game road swing.

Winner Scott Olsen (5-3) surrendered one run and two hits in seven innings with one walk and eight strikeouts.

The Padres (32-30), who lost for the fourth time in their last six games, scored their only run in the fourth inning on a wild pitch by Olsen.

Tough-luck losing pitcher Clay Hensley (4-5) gave up only two hits and two runs in 7 2/3 innings.

He walked four and struck out one.
