MLB: Washington 9, Philadelphia 8

WASHINGTON, June 10 (UPI) -- Robert Fick drove in the winning run with pinch-hit single in the 12th inning, as the Washington Nationals beat Philadelphia, 9-8, Friday night.

The game was delayed an hour and 42 minutes by rain.

Marlon Byrd had two hits and two RBI; and Ryan Zimmerman had three hits, two RBI and two runs scored for the Nationals, who have won eight of their last nine games.

Chad Cordero (2-1) was perfect over two innings in relief to get the win. Nationals' starter Tony Armas gave up three runs on six hits over five innings.

Chase Utley hit a three-run home run and Pat Burrell had a two-run shot for the Phillies, who have lost two in a row after winning four straight. Ryan Howard hit his 22nd homer of the season, tying his total for last year.

Phillies' reliever Clay Condrey (1-1) took the loss. Philadelphia starter Brett Myers had his worst outing of the year, giving up six runs on seven hits in just three innings.
