Castrale leads the LPGA Championship

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., June 8 (UPI) -- Nicole Castrale shot a course record 8-under 64 Thursday to take a two-shot lead after the first round of the LPGA Championship at Havre de Grace, Md.

Pat Hurst and Cristie Kerr are tied for second place at 6-under 66.

"I have been playing pretty well," said Castrale, who has been back and forth on the LPGA Tour and has three top-25 finishes this season. "I felt like it was going to come. I don't pay a whole lot of attention to the leader-board."

Seon Hwa Lee, Dorothy Delasin and Christina Kim all shot 5-under 67 to tie for fourth place.

Lorena Ochoa, who lost in a playoff to Karrie Webb at the season's first major championship, the Kraft Nabisco Championship, carded a 4-under 66.

Three-time defending champion Annika Sorenstam and Michelle Wie are part of a group tied for 41st place at 1-under 71.
