MLB: San Francisco 14, Florida 2

SAN FRANCISCO, June 6 (UPI) -- Lance Niekro tripled and knocked in four runs as San Francisco rolled past Florida, 14-2, in the first of a three-game series at AT&T Park.

Barry Bonds belted his eighth home run of the season, giving him 716 for his career. The San Francisco slugger is now 39 homers away from tying Hank Aaron's record of 755. The home run was the first for Bonds since passing Babe Ruth and moving into second place on the all-time list on May 28.

Randy Winn finished 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs scored and three RBI for the Giants, who have won two straight and four of their last five overall.

Noah Lowry (2-3) started for the Giants and went five innings and gave up just one run on five hits. Brad Hennessey pitched the final four innings to record his first career save. He allowed one run on two hits while striking out three.
