WEST DES MOINES, Iowa, June 4 (UPI) -- Gil Morgan overcame a two-shot deficit with two holes to play on Sunday and won the Allianz Championship at West Des Moines, Iowa.
Loren Roberts was victimized by Morgan's late heroics. He made double-bogey at No. 17, while Morgan birdied the hole.
"Last week was a little bit of a disappointment, but this was nice," said Morgan, who won $225,000 one week after he squandered a third-round lead at the Senior PGA Championship.
"This might be one of the few (victories) I've thrown away in my career," said Roberts. "I'm playing well, I just made a couple of bad swings."
Roberts earned a second-place check of $93,000.
James Blair (67), Ed Dougherty (68), Morris Hatalsky (70) and Kirk Hanefeld (72) shared sixth at 9-under-par 204.
Danny Edwards (69), Bruce Lietzke (70), Fuzzy Zoeller (70), David Edwards (72), Tom Purtzer (71) and John Harris (72) all were 8-under 205.
