MLB: Minnesota 2, Oakland 1

OAKLAND, Calif., June 3 (UPI) -- Justin Morneau's two-run home run put Minnesota past Oakland 2-1 Friday night at McAfee Coliseum as Johan Santana's pitching held the A's back.

Santana allowed just two hits scattered over the eight innings he threw in the Twins' second win in three games.

He allowed one run and threw nine strikeouts.

Frank Thomas' homer gave the A's their only run. Oakland has lost four of their last six games.

Kirk Saarloos took the loss, serving up two runs, five hits and three walks.
