STRASBOURG, France, May 27 (UPI) -- Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic Saturday won the Strasbourg International Tennis Tournament in France.
Vaidisova, who was the 2nd seed, outlasted unseeded Shuai Peng of China, 7-6 (9-7), 6-3, for her sixth career WTA title.
"I had to cut down on my errors to get back on track," said Vaidisova, who was inconsistent early. "She had a couple of chances in the tie-break to take the set, but I was luckier. We were both nervous. I was up, 3-0, in the second set and I let that get away from me, but managed to pull it out in the end."
Vaidisova, who is ranked 18th in the world, improved to 6-1 all-time in finals. She is the women's 16th seed at the French Open and will face Marta Domachowska of Poland in the first round.
Shuai will meet Elena Vesnina of Russia in the first round at the French Open, which begins Sunday.
