NEW YORK, May 27 (UPI) -- Angel Berroa hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning Friday night as Kansas City beat the New York Yankees, 7-6, to break a 13-game losing streak.
There was a two-hour rain delay in the contest.
Tony Graffanino had three runs and two hits; Paul Bako had two hits and one RBI; Shane Costa had one hit and two RBI; and Reggie Sanders hit his 299th career home run for the Royals (11-35), who also snapped a 14-game losing streak at Yankee Stadium.
The winner was Scott Elarton, who improved to 1-5.
Derek Jeter, who had two runs and two hits, recorded his got his 2,000th career hit; Jason Giambi had two runs, two hits and two RBI; while Alex Rodriguez had three hits and one RBI for the Yankees (26-20), who have lost two of their last three games.
The loser was Kyle Farnsworth (1-2).
