MLB: Atlanta 9, Florida 1

ATLANTA, May 18 (UPI) -- Jeff Francoeur hit two homers and drove in three runs Thursday afternoon as Atlanta trounced the Florida Marlins, 9-1.

Francoeur, who extended his hitting streak to 16 games, had three runs, three hits and three RBI; Chipper Jones had one run, one hit and three RBI; on his 28th birthday, Marcus Giles had two runs and two hits; and both Brian Jordan and Matt Diaz had one RBI for the Braves (21-20).

Winner Jorge Sosa (1-5) gave up one run and six hits in 6 2/3 innings with no walks and eight strikeouts.

Reggie Abercrombie homered, and both Mike Jacobs and Miguel Cabrera had two hits for the Marlins (11-28), who have lost their last four games.

In 4 2/3 innings, losing pitcher Scott Olsen (2-3) allowed eight runs and eight hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Sosa is 3-1 in 11 career games -- six of them starts -- against Florida.
