MLB: Milwaukee 3, Philadelphia 2

MILWAUKEE, May 17 (UPI) -- Milwaukee's Bill Hall scored on a ninth-inning throwing error, giving the Brewers a 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Hall opened the Milwaukee ninth Tuesday with a double and Corey Koskie was intentionally walked to set up a force play. The Philadelphia ploy seemed to work when Damian Miller hit a grounder to pitcher Ryan Franklin. But Franklin rushed his throw to third and the ball ended up in the outfield, allowing Hall to score the game-winning run.

Franklin (1-3) took the loss while Brewers reliever Derrick Turnbow (1-1) collected the victory despite giving up a ninth-inning triple.

The teams traded one-run first innings with Ryan Howard singling in the Phillies run and Carlos Lee hitting a sacrifice fly for the Brewers.

Milwaukee went up 2-1 in the third with a Geoff Jenkins run-scoring single.

Philadelphia's David Bell and Shane Victorino hit back-to-back doubles to tie the score at 2-2 in the seventh.
