ST. LOUIS, May 13 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols hit his major league-high 19th home run Saturday night as St. Louis trounced the Arizona Diamondbacks, 9-1.
Scott Rolen, who homered, had one run, two hits and five RBI; Pujols had three runs, three hits, including the homer, and three RBI; and Jim Edmonds had two runs, two hits and one RBI for the Cardinals (24-13), who have won four in a row and seven of their last eight games.
In seven innings, winner Jason Marquis (4-4) gave up one run and three hits with four walks and one strikeout.
Conor Jackson homered for the only run and Shawn Green had two hits for the Diamondbacks (19-17), who have dropped four of their last five games.
Loser Claudio Vargas fell to 4-2.
Pujols' homer was the 220th of his career, tying him with Mark McGwire for fourth on the Cardinals' all-time list.
