MLB: St. Louis 5, Colorado 3

ST. LOUIS, May 13 (UPI) -- Jim Edmonds hit a two-run homer Friday night to help St. Louis beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5-3.

In all, Edmonds drove in three runs; Albert Pujols had a hit, a run and an RBI; and David Eckstein added one run and two hits for the Cardinals (23-13), who have won in a row and six of their last seven games.

Winning pitcher Mark Mulder (4-1) gave up two runs and six hits in six innings with two walks and six strikeouts.

Eric Byrnes, who hit a two-run homer, had one run, two hits and two RBI; Conor Jackson had one run and two hits; while Johnny Estrada had one hit and one RBI for the Diamondbacks (19-16), who have lost three of their last four games.

Loser Juan Cruz (1-1) was charged with five runs and seven hits in five-plus innings with three walks and three strikeouts.
