CARY, N.C., May 10 (UPI) -- The 12-day training camp in North Carolina for the U.S. team participating in the World Cup soccer will stress fun under Coach Bruce Arena.
The camp, which opened Wednesday in Cary, an upscale suburb of Raleigh, will include golf for the team members, The Washington Post reports.
Other attractions for the players include an all-suite hotel and moderate climate.
"We have a group of guys who have worked very hard for the last nine months (with their European clubs) and need an opportunity to relax," Arena told The Post. "They also need an opportunity to get reacquainted and get into the right frame of mind for what awaits us."
The World Cup will start next month in Germany. For Arena, the training camp will be an opportunity for critical bonding experience for the 23 players and coaching staff.
"It's about more than soccer," he said. "We're building a team."
Arena announced the roster last week and he has until Monday to make any changes before submitting it to the soccer's world governing body.
