MIAMI, May 9 (UPI) -- Brian Jordan hit a three-run homer Tuesday as the Atlanta Braves posted a 10-2 victory over the Florida Marlins.
Adam LaRoche, who was 3-for-5, added three runs scored and two RBI for the Braves. Chipper Jones went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Edgar Renteria, who was 2-for-5, has hit safely in 24 straight games dating to his last game last season. He extended his season-opening hitting streak to 23 games, which is the best in the major leagues this year. Detroit's Ron LeFlore holds the longest streak to start a season with 30 in 1976.
John Thomson (1-2) allowed one run on four hits with three strikeouts and a pair of walks in five innings. His 1.88 ERA is the best in the National League.
Reggie Abercrombie went 2-for-3 with a run for the Marlins, who lost their fourth straight.
