WASHINGTON, May 6 (UPI) -- Jason Bay hit a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning Saturday night to give Pittsburgh a 5-4 win over the Washington Nationals.
Overall, Bay had two runs, two hits and two RBI; Nate McLouth had three hits, one run and drove in a run; and Ryan Doumit had two hits and knocked in one for the Pirates (9-23).
Pittsburgh broke snapped a three-game slide.
In relief, the winner was Mike Gonzalez, who rose to 1-2.
Alfonso Soriano had a two-run homer; Brian Schneider had one hit and scored twice; while Royce Clayton had one run and two hits for the Nationals (10-21), who lost for the 11th time in their last 14 games.
Losing pitcher Felix Rodriguez dropped to 0-1 after giving up Bay's game-winning homer.
