Olympic sprinter pleads innocent to fraud

NEW YORK, May 4 (UPI) -- Olympic gold medal sprinter Tim Montgomery pleaded not guilty Thursday in a New York federal court to fraud and money-laundering charges.

Judge Kenneth Karas set bail at $150,000 and ordered him to submit to drug testing if requested, the New York Post said.

Montgomery was charged with conspiring with Steven Riddick, his former track coach, and 11 others to net $5 million by cashing in on stolen, forged and counterfeit checks.

A doping scandal has barred the runner from competition for two years. The doping incident cost him a 100-meter world record.
