CLEVELAND, May 1 (UPI) -- Paul Konerko hit a three-run home run in the first inning and the Chicago White Sox went on Monday to defeat the Cleveland Indians, 8-6.
Jim Thome was 1-for-5 with a walk and an RBI single in the ninth in his first game back in Cleveland since he left the Indians three years ago to sign a free-agent contract with Philadelphia. He was traded to the White Sox this past winter.
Scott Podsednik went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and Rob Mackowiak went 3-for-3 with two walks and a run scored for the White Sox, who have won four straight.
Javier Vazquez (3-1) pitched six innings, allowing just one unearned run on five hits, while striking out seven and walking three.
Travis Hafner hit a grand slam for the Indians, who lost their third game in a row.
