Denver's Kenyon Martin apologizes

DENVER, Mich., April 26 (UPI) -- Forward Kenyon Martin of the Denver Nuggets Wednesday apologized to his teammates.

He has been suspended indefinitely for what was termed as "conduct detrimental to the team" after being relegated to Denver's bench for much of the second half of Monday's 98-87 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers in Game Two of their Western Conference quarterfinal series.

"I take the responsibility of representing the Denver Nuggets very seriously and I truly hope that Nuggets fans understand that," Martin added. "I support the team fully and can't wait to rejoin them on the court as soon as possible. I want to apologize to my teammates and coaching staff for my actions on Monday night. There is nothing more important to me than being a good teammate and giving 110 percent effort each and every day."

The team action came after he sat with a towel over his head after returning late to the Nuggets' bench several minutes into the third quarter of the Clippers game.
