Top three seeds win at Casablanca

CASABLANCA, Morocco, April 25 (UPI) -- The top three seeds -- Chilean Nicolas Massu, Peruvian Luis Horna and Belgian Christophe Rochus -- were opening-round winners at the Grand Prix Hassan II.

Tuesday, Top-seeded Massu beat German Michael Berrer 7-6 (7-4), 6-0; No. 2 seed Horna beat Croatian qualifier Tomislav Peric 7-5, 6-2; and third-seeded Rochus beat German Tomas Behrend 6-3, 6-4.

Massu, the 2004 dual-Olympic gold medalist, will meet Italian Alessio Di Mauro in the round of 16.

Two other seeds reached the second round, as No. 7 Italian Daniele Bracciali defeated Frenchman Olivier Patience 6-3, 6-4 and No. 8 Frenchman Gilles Simon beat Czech Jan Hernych 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Simon was a in Valencia two weeks ago.
