MLB: Boston 6, Toronto 3

TORONTO, April 23 (UPI) -- David Ortiz and Mike Lowell both drove in two runs Sunday as Boston beat Toronto, 6-3, to avoid a three-game sweep.

Kevin Youkilis had one RBI and scored a run, and Alex Gonzalez had two hits and scored a run for the Red Sox (12-7), who broke a three-game slide.

Winning pitcher Matt Clement (2-1) gave up three runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings with two walks and four strikeouts. The Boston bullpen tossed 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and Jonathan Papelbon registered his major league-leading eighth save of the season.

Gregg Zaun hit a three-run homer, and both Eric Hinske and Frank Catalanotto had two hits for the Blue Jays (9-8).

Losing pitcher Josh Towers (0-4) surrendered four runs and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings with three walks and one strikeout.
