SEATTLE, April 22 (UPI) -- The Tigers extended their league leading 8-2 road record with a 2-1 win over the Mariners Friday night at Safeco Field.
Ivan Rodriguez added a ninth inning home run and Placido Polanco batted in the first run for Detroit.

Mike Maroth pitched six innings allowing four hits for the win. He's pitched 17 1/3 scoreless innings.
Todd Jones made his first appearance of the season because of a hamstring pull and nearly blew the save by loading the bases before getting Ichiro Suzuki to ground out.
Seattle lost their fifth of six games.
