MLB: N.Y. Yankees 3, Toronto 1

TORONTO, April 19 (UPI) -- Alex Rodriguez hit a home run for the third straight game Wednesday afternoon as the New York Yankees beat Toronto, 3-1.

Rodriguez scored two runs and Jorge Posada had two hits and an RBI for the Yankees, who earned a split of the two-game series.

Winning pitcher Mike Mussina (2-1) allowed only one run and seven hits in 7 1/3 innings with no walks and seven strikeouts. For the first time this season, New York won a game without scoring at least nine runs.

It was Mussina's 19th career win over the Blue Jays.

Frank Catalanotto had three hits and Vernon Wells drove in the lone run for the Blue Jays, who lost for the third time in four games.

In five innings, loser Ted Lilly (1-1) surrendered two runs and seven hits with five walks and five strikeouts.

Both teams are 7-7.
