MLB: Florida 12, Cincinnati 6

CINCINNATI, April 18 (UPI) -- Hanley Ramirez hit his first two career homers and had four RBI Tuesday as the Florida Marlins defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 12-6.

Ramirez, a highly touted shortstop who came to south Florida in the deal that sent pitcher Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell to Boston, had only three career runs batted in before his 3-for-6 performance on Tuesday. He also scored three runs.

Dan Uggla hit his second homer of the season, finishing 3-for-6 with two runs batted in, while Miguel Cabrera went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the victory. Miguel Olivo ended 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored while Reggie Abercrombie also drove in two runs.

Jason Vargas was handed an early 6-0 lead, but could not get through the fifth frame to pick up the victory. Josh Johnson (1-1) pitched three scoreless innings to earn his first major-league victory.

Edwin Encarnacion finished 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and David Ross had a two-run homer for the Reds.
