PITTSBURGH, April 17 (UPI) -- Sidney Crosby had three assists Monday to became the youngest player in NHL history to reach 100 points, as Pittsburgh beat the New York Islanders, 6-1.
The 18-year-old joins Hall-of-Famer Dale Hawerchuk, who was 100 days older than Crosby when he reached 100 points during the 1982-83 season, as the only two 18-year-olds to reach the 100-point plateau.

Crosby also tied the Pittsburgh rookie scoring record, set by Mario Lemieux during the 1984-85 season.
Ryan Malone scored two goals for Pittsburgh. Marc-Andre Fleury made 26 saves.
Miroslav Satan scored the lone goal for the Islanders, who have dropped two of their last three games. Garth Snow allowed six goals on 29 shots in the loss.
