NBA suspends Childress for two games

NEW YORK, April 14 (UPI) -- Forward Josh Childress of the Atlanta Hawks received a two-game suspension Friday for a physical exchange with Andres Nocioni of Chicago.

The NBA fined Nocioni $5,000 for the incident.

Childress was ejected in the fourth quarter of Wednesday night's game against Chicago with 2:33 on the clock. Nocioni elbowed Childress in the throat, while Childress responded with a forearm to the back of the head. Atlanta lost the contest at Philips Arena 96-90.

Eligible to return for Monday's game against Miami, Childress will miss Friday night's home game against Charlotte and a Saturday game in Milwaukee.

Childress has averaged 10.1 points and 5.3 rebounds this season.
