NHL: Dallas 3, Columbus 2

DALLAS, April 12 (UPI) -- Jason Arnott and Janne Niinimaa each scored power-play goals in helping the Dallas Stars to a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Dallas set a team record with its 52nd victory of the season but it wasn't easy as Columbus scored twice in the game's final 2 1/2 minutes.

The late Blue Jackets surge spoiled a strong outing by Dallas goalie Marty Turco, who stopped 17 shots, including last-second try.

Arnott scored just 3:13 into the game after Columbus' Alexandre Picard was called for boarding at the 2:52 mark. It was Arnott's 31st goal of the season.

Midway through the second period Niinimaa made the score 2-0 and, with 29 seconds left in the period, Jaroslav Svoboda made it a 3-goal advantage when he got the puck past Columbus goalie Marc Denis.

The Blue Jackets tightened things when Duvie Westcott beat Turco with 2:27 left and then, with Columbus going with six attackers, Sergei Fedorov made the score 3-2. The Blue Jackets came close to forcing overtime, but Turco kicked away a try from Rick Nash as time ran out.
